I have been whining on and off about the apparent hideousness of harem pants for awhile, but I’m actually happy that the fashion industry tries to bring in new silhouettes and trends like this, since it feels like every spring we get nautical. So I say we should all give this a chance, maybe we’ll be pleasantly surprised? Buy this cropped pair for the sale price of $159 at Brittique.

Why do some things happen the way they do. Here, I point out some of the unique conundrums existing on earth.
humor,humour,jokes,life,puzzles,riddle,riddles,puzzle,why,entertainment,funny facts
Many articles supply answers, but here I do not. Here, I ask the questions. If you want to rack your brains for finding the answers to these life conundrums. But, I warn you. Beware. These are not easy, and though somewhat hilarious and funny, they are real and true to life.
Should I begin? Ok, here I go:
1) How come Tarzan has no bears even though he grows up with wolves in the jungle?
2) Why does glue not stick to the insides of the tube or can that it comes in?
3) Why do they use sterile injections when executing someone who is condemned to death?
4) Why do we press down harder and harder or the remote controls even though we know that the batteries are low?
5) Why is it that when someone hits us in the ankles with his supermarket trolley and then appologizes, do we say that everything is ok? I mean, things are not really fine. Why is it that we do not say that it hurts?
6) Why is it that whatever the color of the bath soap, the bubbles are always white?
7) Why is it that you will never find a day when mattresses are not on sale?
Why is it that online casinos always offer big prize money for their tournaments but never reveal the real name of the winner after the competition is over?
9) If human beings evolved from monkeys, why is it that there still are monkeys?
10) Why did the Japanese Kamikaze pilots wear helmets during the second World War?
11) Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest but, then, duck when the empty gun is thrown at him.
12) Why do banks charge a commission when you go into debt even though they know that there is no money in that account?
13) Why do people go back again and again to the refrigerator hoping that something new to eat will appear there?
14) Why do people move their vacuum cleaner over a thin thread lying on the floor, bend down, pick it up, examine it, and then, place it on the floor again and move the vacuum over it again?
15) Why do people believe it when they are told that there are more than four billion stars, but when they see a sign that says wet paint, they have to touch and check?
16) Why does a plastic bag not open at the end where you first try to open it?
17) Why do you never hear jokes about father in laws?
18) Why are there dead insects inside enclosed electric lamps?
19) Why is it that in winter we try and keep the house as warm as it was during the summer when back in the summer we hated the heat?
20) Why is it that every time you try and catch something that is about to fall off the table, you always hit something else and drop that instead?
Conclusion:
Life has many oddities and conundrums: some funny, some less. I have mentioned but a few. Think of more? Send them to me.

The fashionable fad of silicone wristbands appears to be fading. But is it truly? Clark Swihart is quite convincing in his explanation of why custom silicone bracelets are no longer a fad, but a mainstay.
silicone bracelets, silicone wristbands, laser-engraved bracelets, laser-engraved wristbands, printed wristbands, printed bracelets, debossed bracelets, embossed bracelets, debossed wristbands, embossed wristbands
Awareness Bracelet Craze
Ever since Lance Armstrong started the silicone wristband craze with the release of his yellow “LIVESTRONG?wristbands, millions of people worldwide have discovered a new and effective method of supporting their favorite causes. Today, there is almost every color imaginable to be found on these ubiquitous silicone bracelets; each one performing their part in raising awareness for a multitude of diseases and causes. What does the future hold for this latest fad to take our society (and a plethora of others worldwide) by storm?
Fashionable Fad
Although silicone wristbands have become incredibly popular, it is exceptionally difficult to argue that they are the height of fashion. Even with the cachet factor, it is essential to remember that they are made of rubber. Very few consumers are choosing to wear their awareness bracelets to the ball or senior prom. However, this does not translate into these wristbands as being “unfashionable?either. Indeed, silicone wristbands have become a “fashionable fad.? A fad, by definition, is a “short-lived fashion
something that is embraced very enthusiastically for a short time, especially by many people.? Undoubtedly, many people have enthusiastically embraced silicone bracelets. But, just how short-lived is this awareness bracelet craze?
From Fad to Mainstay
Simple market analysis reveals to us a dichotomy in the silicone wristband industry. Retail sales are beginning to lag, yet manufacturers are producing silicone bracelets in record quantities, with no end in sight. How is this possible? Simple. The fad is fading but a new, effective, and inexpensive mainstay has taken its place ?the custom silicone wristband. Silicone bracelets have already proven themselves effective for fundraising. Now, their fully customized cousins are proving even more effective at targeting a variety of smaller causes, and they are making a dramatic push into corporate promotions and trade shows. Custom silicone wristbands are being adopted by small non-profit organizations, large corporations, and everything in between as a powerful tool for spreading their message, promoting their brand, and announcing new products or even entirely new businesses. Is the key chain a fad? Is the coffee mug, pen, calendar, mouse pad, or T-shirt a fad? No, these items are here to stay. Custom silicone wristbands are here to stay as well. Customized bracelets are more than just a simple promotional or fundraising item. They are walking billboards. Human nature dictates that we share anything that we have received free with practically everyone we meet. If we have purchased a custom silicone wristband to support our local sports team, church youth group, or favorite small charity, human nature often dictates that we share this good deed as well.
The Bottom Line
The bottom line is that custom silicone wristbands can and will be used by all types of organizations large and small. They are an inexpensive and incredibly effective marketing tool that puts an exciting twist on word-of-mouth advertising and viral marketing. Organizations are beginning to realize that an investment of mere pennies per wristband has the potential to reach dozens of prospective customers with each fully customized bracelet introduced into their target market. In addition, local schools, churches, and small non-profit organizations recognize the benefits of bolstering school spirit or spreading their message while raising funds at the same time. So, if you are looking for the silicone bracelet fad to fade any time soon, look again. Custom silicone wristbands are not only here to stay, you can expect to see even more of them as everyone from small local churches to huge corporate conglomerates jump on board. With the possible combinations of colors, messages, designs, and even sizes being infinite, creative minds everywhere will be looking to harness the power of the custom silicone wristband.

Everyone needs a change now and again, especially when it comes to personal aesthetics. When the itch to experiment arises, there are many ways to achieve a new and exciting look. One way is through dramatic change in our hair style or clothing. Another way to do this is via the use of colored or novelty contact lenses.
For those who are feeling a bit adventurous but may not want to walk too far on the wild side, they may simply go with a different eye color. Individuals who wish to boldly go forth with something outrageous and daring, may find that cat’s eye, black and white or spiral lenses are the remedy.
People who look for interesting and unusual contacts don’t merely have to do so to make a unique fashion statement, such lenses can also be used for costumes, plays or any needful occasion. Problem is, when people attempt to locate these fanciful lenses they are often at a loss of where to go.
Below is a listing of some of the more common areas where one can locate odd ball contacts that will offset a wonderful costume or complete a fantastic new look.
Online retailers
The largest inventory of unusual contact lenses would of course be on the Internet. This is because merchants that sell these eye accessories can hawk their wares from anywhere on the globe. In the end, you’ll have literally hundred of companies to choose from when you decide to look for insane looking contact lenses.
Just be wary when purchasing anything outside of the US, especially if the item is something you plan to place on a delicate area of your body like your eye. The United States has stringent rules about company conduct and consumer safety but other nations may not have such rules in place. Also, should something go terribly wrong, like an infection that costs you your sight, you may not have legal recourse.
If you do wish to purchase a pair of outrageous contacts from overseas, be sure to investigate those countries policies in regards to business accountability and liability.
Costume and novelty stores, Specialty shops that sell theater or Halloween costumes could carry several lines of contact lens in a variety of styles. Before visiting the store you have in mind, try calling them to see if they have what you are looking for. Even if they do not, they may be able to refer you to a company or two that does.
Counterculture hot spots, Goths and Emo subcultures are into avante garde and underground fashions. If you go to where such creatures hang out, you are bound to see one or two them sporting wonderfully decadent eyewear. If you feel so bold, you can go up to the person and ask where they procured their lenses.
If you are feeling bit sheepish about approaching a perfect stranger and asking such a question, all you have to do is find out where Goths and Emo type personalities shop. Most of these stores carry accessories like creature or special effects contacts for a small fee. There may even be wigs and other items that can really cement the look you are going for.
Pre Eye Exam
Before you stick anything in your eye however, get an eye exam to make sure it will be okay to do so. Just because the contacts will be used for cosmetic purposes doesn’t mitigate the potential dangers to your vision should you put them in wrong (or leave them in overnight). When you receive the go ahead, feel free to hunt for the contact lenses you desire most.
Picking one or several pairs will not only open up a new door to your creativity, it will allow you to explore a side of your personality that has lain dormant and will now get a chance to come out and play

Sunglasses are a special kind of glasses that have been specially darkened to stop bright light from hurting your eyes
sun,glasses,shades
Sunglasses are a special kind of glasses that have been specially darkened to stop bright light from hurting your eyes. When you wear them, the world seems to become a little less bright, which can be a relief on very sunny days. They go all the way back to Roman times, and are especially popular today in the summer and on beaches.
However, shielding their eyes from light is not the only reason that people wear sunglasses. They can also sometimes look good in themselves as a fashion accessory, and people may also use them to hide their eyes from others when they are upset, or on drugs, or don’t want people to see their eyes for some other reason ?celebrities who don’t want their photo taken, for example. People with missing eyes or who are blind often wear sunglasses in preference to things like eyepatches.
One word of warning: many people will react badly towards you if you wear sunglasses indoors for no apparent reason, thinking that you are just doing it because you are a ‘poser?who wants to make a fashion statement. It can also be dangerous to wear sunglasses in places that aren’t very bright, as you won’t be able to properly see where you’re going and may trip over or walk into things.
There are also medical reasons to wear sunglasses, particularly the fact that protecting your eyes from the sun’s ultraviolet rays can reduce the risk of eye cancer, as well as some eye conditions like cataracts. It is possible to get prescription sunglasses that correct vision like normal glasses while protecting their wearer from the sun at the same time, although these can be expensive.
When you buy a pair of sunglasses, do make sure to check that they offer 100% protection against the sun’s UV rays, as not all the cheaper models do. Because the sunglasses cause your pupils to widen as they do in the dark, cheap sunglasses can cause huge amounts of UV radiation to enter your eyes, therefore doing much more harm than good.

Elegance is back in a big way this season. The wedding fashions for Spring 2009 are sleek, chic and decidedly elegant in many different ways. Whether you are planning a simple morning wedding, an afternoon tea or a full-fledged traditional, formal wedding, there are elegant wedding gowns just right for your special day.
With so many different kinds of elegance, choosing just the right wedding gown for your walk down the aisle can seem confusing. Luckily, there are some guidelines that you can follow to help you find the perfect wedding gown for your wedding. Here are a few suggestions to help you narrow down your choices of elegant wedding gowns.
Elegant Wedding Gowns for a Morning Wedding
The etiquette mavens say that a morning wedding calls for more causal attire than an afternoon or evening wedding. Those rules have relaxed considerably these days, and it is more important to match the style of your dress to the relative formality of the occasion. If you, the bride, choose to wear a full length designer ball gown, no one but a few stuffy critics will lift a brow. If, however, you would like to choose an elegant dress that fits tradition for morning weddings, you have got a lot of choices. The usual choice for an elegant morning wedding is a knee-length or tea-length dress, or a suit.
One very elegant choice for a morning wedding is Style PL270 from the Platinum Collection. The strapless cocktail length dress of silk crepe georgette features elegant details like shirring at the waist with metallic thread and crystal embellishment at the bust line and waist.
For a more contemporary elegant look, you might choose a dress like the Mageve style from the Reverie collection. The sleek, strapless dress is embellished with allover lace and beading that is subtle and stunning, accenting the smooth, simple lines of a princess styled sheath dress.
Another choice from the Reverie Collection is the Milan, a tea-length dress that combines traditional and contemporary styling to create a dress that is pure elegance. The draped bodice, wide straps and unusual dropped waist all combine beautifully into an elegant traditional dress that is perfectly at home for a semi-formal morning wedding, but fits an afternoon wedding as well.
Afternoon Wedding Gown Elegance
Afternoon weddings tend to be a bit more formal than morning weddings, though not quite as formal as an evening, black tie affair. Traditionally, tea-length wedding dresses are acceptable for afternoon weddings, though many brides choose to wear floor length wedding gowns no matter the time of day. Tea-length dresses are hemmed from slightly below the knee to mid-calf length, and often have full, swingy skirts.
The Taylor party dress from the Vineyard Collection is one elegant choice for a semi-formal afternoon wedding. The strapless satin bodice features a sweetheart neckline, one of the most traditional necklines for bridal gowns, and the full skirt is made with layers of fluttery, sheer tulle.
Another style from the Vineyard line that suits a morning or afternoon wedding is the Molly style wedding dress. The very simple floor-length wedding gown has an almost Renaissance feel to it, with drop shoulder straps and a pleated bodice. The simple A-line design is casually elegant, falling from the ribbon-wrapped waist to a soft, short train in the back.
Pure Formal Elegance for an Evening Wedding
Traditionally, evening weddings are black-tie affairs that call for formal, floor-length wedding gowns. Elegant formal wedding gowns come in many different silhouettes, and run the gamut from contemporary to traditional. The most popular styles for an evening wedding include ball gowns and Princess Gowns, but the most popular silhouette this season is a modified mermaid style that’s usually called “fit-to-flare”. The fit-to-flare style features a dress that is fitted to the torso and flares below the thigh into a wide, sweeping hem, often with a train.
Most wedding gowns combine more than one style, and do it with pure elegance. Style PL173 from the Platinum Collection is an eye-catching elegant design for a formal evening wedding. The satin bodice is closely fitted in a corset style with a back lacing, and the modified A-line skirt has a bit more flared look than the usual princess style, but not so much as a trumpet fit-to-flare skirt.
The Platinum Collection also features stunning ball gowns that are elegance personified. Some, like the PL241, feature luxurious touches like jeweled necklines and origami bows. Others feature lavish embroidery and Swarovski crystal beading, like the PL104, also from the Platinum Collection.
Before you visit a bridal salon, take the time to look through bridal magazines and web sites and pick out elegant wedding gown styles that you like. Clip and print pictures of the wedding dresses and gowns and bring them with you to help your bridal consultant understand just what “elegant” means to you.

Online gambling was banned in the USA to fight against the possible negative impact it could have on out Society, but what about the positive impacts if it was legalized and regulated.
Online,casinos,gambling,drugs,illegal,gambling problems,gamming,speakeasy,prohibition,online casinos
Everyone talks about the negative impact of online gambling, but they are not talking about the negative impact of banning online gambling.
A reason for banning online casinos was to make sure that underage children were not using thee parents credit cards to gamble online, but besides the fact that most online casinos did everything possible to ensure to verify the age of the account holder before allowing any gambling to occur, but by banning it you are only stopping the law abiding casinos from taking bets and not the less reputable online casinos. They will use third party account like PayPal ore Click2pay which provide a loophole in the new law.
By banning an activity especially such a popular activity as online gambling all that can be expected to happen is for people to find ways around the law, such as the Speakeasies of the 1920’s.
A Speakeasy was a nightclub that served Alcohol during prohibition and was usually hidden in the back rooms of pet stores and innocent looking book stores. Every time a speakeasy was raided the next night another one was opened, and this is what will happen with these online casinos. If the government finds one operating in the USA and gets it shut down or manages to stop the money flowing to it then another will open.
By regulating online gambling the government would know exactly who was running the casino to make sure they were running it honestly and within all the laws, and it would help make sure that the criminal element did not get rich and gain power a second time in the history of the USA because of a bad lawmaking decision.
Another reason given for the ban of online gambling was to help protect against a rise in problem gamblers from have casino gamming in your home 24 hrs a day, but no proof has ever been found that shows that people who would normally not be inclined to go to a casino and gamble would decide to do it just because it was now in their homes.
The facts actually show a steady rate of people with gambling problems and growing at the same rate it has been growing for over 25 years.
Many experts are now saying that there are some positives to the online gambling ban, but those positives would be even better if the industry was properly legalized and not, just by putting a mostly unenforceable law in place.
But this to be a pattern the government seems to always make, it is much like the war on drugs. Last time I checked thee was still a drug problem in this country even though drugs are illegal, yet in countries like Holland where the use of soft drugs like hash and grass are legal the number people with drug problems is much lower per capita then in the USA. This is because the money that is brought in the form of taxes from these sales goes to fund the public schools where they properly educate kids on the negative effects of these drugs, so most of the people who smoke are tourists and not the locals.
Maybe one day the government will learn from its past mistakes and make things right.

A wonderful article exploring some of the hottest handbag styles of the season.
Hermes, Gwen Stefani, Matt & Nat
Spring is simply my favorite time of the year. Every year, around this time, the major fashion houses in the world release their new designs to the hungry masses. This season is certainly no exception, and some of the bags I have seen so far are simply amazing! We all have certain designers that we have grown to love and trust, but some of the new players out there have really impressed me this year. If you love purses and handbags the way I do, check out some of these new releases.
I have always been in love with Prada handbags. In fact, it was Prada that first inspired my love affair with purses. To be perfectly honest, I have never seen a Prada bag that I didn’t love. This year they have impressed me to no end. Words cannot describe the feeling I get when I see this bag. I am talking about the new Prada/Jute Snakeskin Hobo. For those you that love a bit of glitz and glamour, you will absolutely adore the gold snakeskin accents. The tan leather trim really helps neutralize the flashiness of the gold, and the simple beige weaved jute brings it a real sense of balance. The Prada logo is nicely located in the middle of the front side, beautifully mounted on a small wooden plate. Absolutely stunning!
Fendi is another one of those designers I cannot be without. While some of their purses are less-than-remarkable, certain others are nothing short of phenomenal. I have been raving about the Fendi Spy to all of my friends, and now I share this little secret with you. These might be difficult to find, as women everywhere are going mad over them. They have a few different purses available in this line, but the one I truly lust over is the Fendi Floral Spy Satchel. It is oh-so-cute! This bag has a wonderfully intricate floral appliqu?on the front side, and the leather is as white as pure driven snow. Be still my beating heart!
Isabella Fiore has created what might be the cutest springtime bag ever! Has anyone out there had the pleasure of holding the new April Woven Bag? If you haven’t, I suggest you stop what you are doing and go find one. If you have, please wipe that drool from your mouth. It’s gross. The handles on this bag are constructed from the finest braided brown leather, and the flowers painted on the side are the stuff dreams are made of. Ooo la la! It has a magnetic closure, and a wonderfully durable canvas liner. I want to buy all of them up, so you can’t have one. Happy springtime shopping, ladies!

Cate Blanchett “couldn’t not” say yes when her husband Andrew Upton proposed to her.
The 39-year-old actress – who has three sons, seven-year-old Dashiell, four-year-old Roman and eight-month-old Ignatius with Andrew – knew she would end up marrying the playwright as soon as they met.
Speaking about Andrew’s proposal, Cate said: “I couldn’t not accept. We were in exactly the same place at exactly the same time. He turned to me after a few days and said, ‘Cate … ,’ and I thought, ‘Oh, god, he’s going to ask me to marry him – and I’m going to have to say yes!’ He didn’t, in fact – he asked me what I wanted for dinner or something like that. But I’d never had that thought before. I thought, ‘This is extraordinary! I’ve never felt this before. What an adventure!’ “
Cate – who can next be seen starring alongside Brad Pitt in reverse ageing movie ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ – also revealed while she and Andrew are happy in their relationship, there is one thing that would spark problems between them.
She added to Vanity Fair magazine: “Andrew said he’d divorce me if I had any plastic surgeries.
“When you’ve had children, your body changes, there’s history to it. I like the evolution of that history. I’m fortunate to be with somebody who likes the evolution of that history.”

There is a large variety of regular and irregular shoes sold on the internet. These shoe selections will be the perfect choice when people are buying shoes for the entire family. Families can find shoes that will fit all sizes at internet retail shoe stores. The large selection of shoes might come from a name brand dealer that the family is already familiar with or they could come from a retailer that sold its inventory because they were going out of business. People that buy shoes through the internet are likely to save enough money that they can buy more pairs than they could if they shopped for shoes at a land-based shoe store.
* There are certain times of the year when shoes are placed on sale in stores all across the United States. Shoes stores that are located in retail outlet malls will generally maintain sale prices throughout the year, and offer big deals to families that buy several pairs of shoes at one time. There are women shoe styles in the stores that are name brand shoes, but marked lower because of the outlet setting. People can afford to make several trips to these locations during the year because they know that they will always find lower prices on the shoes that they want to wear to church and other events throughout the year.
* Some families are not willing to risk their child’s health by buying inexpensive shoes anywhere. Shoddy workmanship by foreign shoe dealers have often affected the shape of a child’s foot but the damage will not be evident for many years. Feet develop in certain stages throughout life, and families in particular want shoes that fit and look right on the foot of a child. Young children are not able to say whether a shoe is too tight or does not feel right. Parents prefer to do business with shoe companies that have been in business for years and have built the reputation of always fitting a shoe to a child’s foot just right.
* Shoe stores have large inventories of shoes made specifically for women, men, and children at all stages of life. The styles of the shoes might be athletic, casual, dressy or serve a different purpose altogether, such as those needed for a specific type of workplace. Some shoes will protect the feet from cold and other shoe styles will protect the wearer from injuries. Families need shoes for formal and casual occasions, but they also rely on dealers to sell shoes that are usable. Many disappointments have occurred in land based retail shops that sell low quality shoes at extremely low prices.
* People that need several pairs of shoes for various members of the family will consider the quality in workmanship that goes into making a pair of shoes before price is considered on any shopping day. Families have learned the hard way that value is in the quality of the materials and not in the quality of the low price that is placed on shoes of unknown dealers. People will often shop discount stores for name brands that they trust. People seldom have to return shoes that are made of quality materials like leather because this material has the ability to stand up to years of abuse before it shows any type of wear and tear from wearing them everyday.

I’ve been surprised at the number of people who love my fingerless gloves, I guess grunge really is making a comeback! This is the most affordable pair I found, only $12 and coming in black, navy and brown at American Apparel. But they are unisex, so if you have unnaturally small hands they will possibly be too big.

The right choice of accessories can make or break your whole outfit. It can turn drab clothes into fashionably stylish. Conversely, it can also ruin a trendy get-up.
eyewear, fashion sunglasses
Eyewear is now classified as a fashion accessory aside from being a necessity for many people. Styles are being updated every season to cater to the varied tastes of its consumers. For those that couldnât help but wear glasses, the least they could do is to get a style and frame that will bring out their best facial features.
The trend
These days, sunglasses and various types of eyewear are more than just necessities to protect the eyes from the sun or other elements. They are fashion statements in their own right. Sunglasses can easily make you look glamorous even when youâre only wearing basic jeans and shirt.
It’s interesting how a certain piece of eyewear can define the individual personality of the one wearing it. This is basically why many people spend a lot of time carefully choosing the right sunglasses or corrective lenses. There are even those who collect different types of eyewear to use in various occasions.
Originally, sunglasses were associated with celebrities who need to maintain anonymity when they walk down the streets. Nowadays, people who want to look trendy and chic have also taken to adopting the same fashion trend and donned their own shades.
What’s in style
Shopping for eyewear can be quite daunting because the styles have gone beyond the basic frames. Black will always be in style as far as frames are concerned. Itâs actually a classic color that will span all style genres. Itâs a good idea to invest in a black frame that will complement the shape of your face. You can wear this style to the office for a more confident look.
If you’re feeling adventurous, this season brings futuristic designs and bolder colors. The Spring 2008 runway features glasses in acid colors such as fluorescent turquoise and really bright orange. Youâll find these colors either as peek-a-boo details on the temples or as the actual color for the frame. Plastic and metallic frames are still in style for this season. Crisp and seamless designs define the eyewear style trend today. These frames can easily update your wardrobe and put some color into your daily getup.
Bigger frames
Bigger frames are still in style today. Square-shaped and aviator glasses are quite a hit. However, larger eyewear can be quite tricky as this style doesnât necessarily work with most facial shapes. The idea is to carefully select a frame that wouldnât swallow your whole face. These styles are great for exuding that aura of anonymity and for adding glamour to an ordinary outfit. Wrap styles are quite popular among women. They also make for wise choices in eyewear as these designs offer optimum sun protection.
For corrective eyewear, black is still a good choice but brown, grey and silver are also in season. Wire glasses will go quite well with any outfit. Plastic is also a good material to use as itâs lighter.
Color
Layered and colored effects are popular among the younger crowd. Plastic frames in two-color combinations are still in style. Red and black or red-and-white combinations offer a classic look that will go well with practically any type of style personality but bolder colors will work just as well.
For lens colors, black is still a classic shade that will never go out of style. Other hues to try are grey and brown. Itâs best to stay away from neon shades such as pink and blue for the moment as they take a backseat in lieu of classic colors.
More than just basics
Before, eyewear is just that â” a pair of glasses mounted on a plain frame. These days, however, shopping for glasses is much more fun with the wide array of designs to choose from. Bejeweled eyewear is quite a hit. Swarovski crystals on the temple part create a more luxurious effect to the basic sunglasses. Basic metal and plastic frames have also been replaced by other materials like leather, crocodile and horn.
Selecting the right eyewear
As earlier mentioned, the right choice of eyewear can easily turn your whole outfit from drab to fashionably chic so itâs important to be careful in your selection. You will want to go for frames that will accentuate your best facial features and flatter the shape of your face. For instance, if it is round-shaped, itâs best to wear frames that are square-shaped to make your face look narrow. If you have a small face, itâs best to stay away from oversized glasses and opt for smaller versions that wouldnât hide your face.
While itâs more practical to have just one pair of corrective eyewear for all your needs, itâs also a good idea to invest in a spare one that you can wear on formal or casual occasions. And finally, donât rely too much on the latest trend. Your priority should still be comfort and optimum eye protection.

Singer blames her chaotic childhood
Christina Aguilera has admitted that’s she’s a control freak.
‘I was raised in a very chaotic environment,’ she explains.
‘We were always moving from one place to another, my father being in the military, and you know, my mother leaving my father, going back and forth.
‘Nothing was ever quite stable or secure for me. So that might definitely have something to do with liking things done in order, in control and my way.
‘I’m a huge organisation freak. Everything is labelled and specified and there’s a place for it.’
Christina, 27, reckons music helped her to deal with her disjointed childhood.
‘As a very young girl there was a lot of domestic violence in the home,’ she tells The Observer Magazine.
‘So I think I just gravitated towards music as an escape.’
Christina is now happlly married to Jordan Bratman, 31, and is mum to 11-month-old son Max Liron.

The world ultimately looks better and hipper through the lenses. But with all the variety of trends coming on the scene, how do we pick the right shades?
sunglasses, tips, eyeglasses
Today, sunglasses have become everyone’s bestfriend. We never leave home without them. We carry them just about anywhere our lives take us. We never miss out on every opportunity to sneak at the shades counter whenever we get the chance. Sunglasses are fast becoming indispensable. They don’t just keep out those dangerous UV rays but they also exude a lot of attitude. They’re our eyes on the world, especially the fashion world. The world ultimately looks better and hipper through the lenses. But with all the variety of trends coming on the scene, how do we pick the right shades? How do we know they fit our facial profile?
Here’s a list of quick tips for sunglasses picks to match your face:
Square Face
You need slightly curved frames with the top high enough on the face to downplay the jaw line. Try aviator or wrap styles that suit your moods.
Round Face
Straight or angular frames in a deep color such as black or tortoise flatter the features of your face. For a good fit, try square-framed sunglasses with colored lenses.
Triangular Face
Defined by a broad forehead and a narrow mouth and chin, your face can be complemented with thin rims and vertical lines. Sleek oval frames with colored lenses also looks becoming on you.
Oblong Face
Similar to the square face with a little more length, the shape of your face looks best with a frame that covers as much of the center of the face as possible. Avoid large frames, heavy nose bridges, bold colors and square shapes. Experiment on updated classics for a trendy look.
Oval Face
With an oval shape, you can choose more shapes than any other. However, always remember to pick frames in proportion to the size of your face.
Aside from finding the perfect frame for your face, you should also consider frames that are proportional to your nose. Oversize frames balance out a large nose, while short noses should find sunglasses with a high bridge and a light color. Long noses are complemented by a double bridge and frames with high sidebars, drawing attention toward temples.
A good rule of thumb: Go for the frame that is opposite from the shape of your face. Think of the word “balance” and make sure to play around with many different shaped frames before you decide on your final choice.

Herbert Harold Vreeland once said: Clothes dont make a man but good clothes have got many a man a good job.
A mans first impression is determined by the clothes he is wearing. If you want to be perceived as a man of character and integrity, then you have to dress the part.
Most men will shy away from the thought of spending too much time on their attire. After all, a suit is a suit is a suit! While most men in suits do blend together in a crowd, a distinguishing mens tie can make you stand out from the crowd.
How Your Tie Defines You
Mens ties have been the main source of office fashion for the past few decades. A man is often defined by the kind of clothes he wears. Ties come in a huge range of styles and each kind of tie makes an individual statement.
Men who wear oversized ties are often perceived as egotistical and having an oversized opinion of themselves whereas a man who wears beautiful silk ties is typically seen as sophisticated and stylish. This is the man who will catch the eye of every woman who passes him by on the street.
Whether you want to wow the ladies on the street or the boss in the office, it is important to choose your tie carefully. In both cases, the first impression counts and how!
How To Choose Your Tie
Here are a few things to look for when you go shopping for the perfect mens tie.
Length of the Tie: Choose the length of your tie carefully. You should look for the appropriate length for your height. If you are particularly tall, then the average 55-56 inch tie is going to be too short. Your tie should end just above your belt buckle. If it touches your belt, it is bit too long and if it is a few inches above your belt, it is a bit too short. If you tie a neck tie correctly, you can often adjust the length by adjusting your knot.
Texture of the Fabric: Ties are made of a variety of materials, so you can find one to suit any occasion. Whether you prefer cashmere, silk, or wool, you should always make sure your tie texture looks right when paired with a suit. While a silk tie may not look right when paired with a tweed suit, a distinguished silk neck tie will complement a silk suit beautifully.
Pattern of the Tie: Although they do look smashing, you dont always have to wear a solid colored tie. There are many designs and styles to choose from, including stripes, plaids and polka dotted. When you choose a patterned tie, keep in mind how it will look when paired with your suits or shirts.
Color of the Tie: Ties come in every color imaginable and men should be liberal in their color choices. As long as the color does not clash against your shirt or suit, almost any shade is acceptable. You can vary tie colors according to seasons or in keeping with your changing mood. Blue ties look great on almost any complexion and dark greens and burgundies are also good choices for any skin type. Men with olive complexions look striking in pink or lavender ties paired with a dark suits.
A Note About Handmade Ties
Most men purchase their neck ties from department stores but handmade ties are a wonderful alternative when you are looking for good quality. A handmade tie will last for years and it can be customized to your particular height for the perfect fit. Most men love handmade ties because they are deeply folded on the back, allowing for easier wear and more sophisticated style.

A funny take on this winter’s fashion.
www.customfashionjewelry.com, winter fashion
Tired of winter? Who isn’t — except maybe pro-snowboarder Shaun Palmer and pro-skier Shane McConkey.
Even people who make their living off of winter, like tire salesmen, chimney sweeps, and snowplow drivers, can’t seem to wait for the frosty days to end. Fortunately there’s one good thing about cold weather: winter fashion. It’s just fun, with all the layers and bold colors, not to mention the furry lambskin boots.
This time of year, every glossy cover of Elle, Vogue, and Mademoiselle makes me dream of looking like one of those glam girls wrapped up in a delectable sweater and plush boots. Unfortunately every time I try to mimic one of those magazine looks, everything goes astray.
Just this week I tried the tight jeans-bulky sweater-chunky boots look. It looked winter, but it didn’t work for winter. I fought with every jacket in my closet, trying to cajole one to button over my new oversized turtleneck sweater. I was relieved when I finally got my pea coat to close, but the relief washed away when I bustled over to the mirror to see that I looked about 7 months pregnant.
All the layering would be great — if I was studying polar bears in the Arctic for the day. I wasn’t. I was on my way to work. I made a quick stop at the coffee shop, and the second I walked in, I started overheating. By the time I got to the counter, I could smell my perspiration starting to mix with the wool of the sweater. I like the natural beauty look, but I’m not fond of the smell. I was waiting for my mocha and madly fanning myself with a menu, when I glanced down to see that my new furry boots had nearly been ruined by the rock salt scattered on the city sidewalks.
After all the time I spent buying, planning, and putting on my new outfit, my sparkly chandelier earrings were the only thing that survived the morning. They were the least expensive part of my attire, and I got compliments on them all day. Apparently a little twinkle makes people feel good.
Like any smart woman, I resort to black in the wintertime despite what the houses of haute couture scream at us about wearing more color. Black looks good day or night, and for a girl on the run, it doesn’t require much thought. The best thing about black is that it hides all types of flaws, like those caused by eating an entire pumpkin cheesecake on Thanksgiving. But black is not only thinning; it’s a great palette for accessories.
This year, women have a lot of jewelry options. You can fall back on the old basic of diamonds. Or you can try this winter’s exciting new collections of colored pearls and shells. They look fabulous with black, and they can be as dressy as a diamond necklace, while offering more personality and flare. You can also highlight your eye color with a similar colored necklace. Nothing is more beautiful than a pair of sapphire blue eyes with a matching necklace.
Rhinestones are always a holiday favorite. This season, designers are using them with fiber optic glass and silver. It’s a new take on a jeweler’s staple. Red stones can highlight the flushed skin and rosy cheeks of winter. And the fiber optics in the glass makes the necklaces, earrings, and bracelets glow. The combination creates a look that no one will forget.
And something that will always go with black, more black. Onyx is a gorgeous stone that when highlighted with silver can make a simple black sweater and slacks into a classic cosmopolitan look. Dangly onyx earrings are stunning with pulled back hair. Onyx is great because it can go with almost anything. It makes red more refined, pink more subdued, and white more exotic.
So don’t let gray skies and stale snow keep you from feeling beautiful. Next time you go to your closet and feel bummed out about having to squeeze your outfit under your jacket, toss on a gorgeous pair of earrings. Everyone will notice them, even with your jacket on. And unlike that oversized sweater, you can keep wearing them when the warm spring days finally return.

As a lifestyle columnist, Di Petroff is always looking for chic lifestyle and fashion statements.
Trends And Statements To “Di”
As a lifestyle columnist, I’m always looking for chic lifestyle and fashion statements.
Nothing makes more of a statement than having a sophisticated “idea resource” at my fingertips for days at the beach, nights on the town and dinner parties at home.
One of my favorites is the Spiegel catalog, which offers inspiration on entertaining, decorating and even a fabulous cocktail dress.
At your next get-together, unleash your inner fashionista. When the party heats up, bear your shoulders with a silk halter dress in vivid green. And bejewel yourself with a green and gold jeweled brocade bag that won’t set your budget back, but will spring your inner princess forward.
Accessories are the DNA of lasting glamour, so who wants to be seen in something a million other women already own? Opt instead for a brass cameo bracelet by Michael Negrin, who creates vintage-inspired jewels made to help you feel like a Victorian queen. Or add a dazzling yet delicate multistrand pearl necklace to your gem collection. Wear it the way I do-with a cocktail dress-and you’ll be the envy of all the “gem setters” at the party.
I’m forever collecting shoes. Shoes for meetings, shoes for the beach and shoes for parties. That’s why I’m excited about the metallic snake-embossed sandal-a chain of jewels adds a touch of elegance, taking me seamlessly from day into night.
Glamour doesn’t start and end with fashion. It extends to every aspect of life (it does for me, at least). A party is the perfect excuse to decorate, redecorate or simply add a few glam accents to your divine temple.
With The Spiegel Signature Home Collection, you can dive into anything from Asian-inspired embroidered decorative shams to a crystal candelabra with antique flair.
Entertaining at home is an exceptional craft and I’ve discovered a new culinary goddess-Donatella Arpaia, of the famed Bellini, David Burke & Donatella, and Ama restaurants in New York City. She’s my favorite authority on entertaining.
Elements of Ama’s celebrated Italian-style entertaining, such as the Essential Sauce made with pure tomatoes and extra virgin Fruttato Olive Oil, are now available, so you can provide gourmet dining for your guests without the five-star price tag.

The Jazz age had a profound impact on clothing, both for men and women. World War 1 was over, and the culture was quickly changing and evolving. The class system seemed to disappear and attitudes changed dramatically, especially among the youth of the era. As society went through rapid changes, mens fashion began to become more interesting and creative.
For centuries, men had worn a similar outfit, with few if any changes to it. In the 1920s, we see an introduction to sports wear, or wearing what the sports icons wore. We also see the younger generation rebelling against tradition and creating a new style that was better suited for comfort. Fabrics were lighter, and colors more varied than they had been in years, reflecting the changing cultural attitude of the people.
The young men wore baggy plus fours and wide legged trousers. The plus fours were another way the sports industry affected fashion, as this look was first introduced by famous golfers. Golfers also began a trend with the infamous Fair Isle sweater, which quickly caught on among men throughout society. Tennis also impacted fashion, as it grew more popular. The white trousers and v-neck sweaters were popular for a night out on the town.
In centuries past, menswear had been extremely formal, to the point of upper-class men in Edwardian times having to change their clothing several times a day to meet proprieties needs. A suit and neck tie of some form was essentially always worn, though in the 1920s the suit became much simpler. The suit jacket became slimmer and unpadded, and worn over simple trousers.
The baggy trousers originated at Oxford University, due to a ban on knickerbockers; so they were called Oxford bags. As a result, trousers in the 1920s grew continuously wider in the legs, leading to the development of the front crease. This allowed for a sharper look, especially in silhouette. Suspenders became a hold of the older generation as belts took over, their waist slimming feature especially made them popular. Cuffs were added to trousers, giving them a more finished look.
With mens fashions changing so dramatically, it may seem surprising to note that formal wear remained much the same for men as it had for centuries. Granted, the frock coat was replaced by the tail coat, but that was basically the only change. The jacket still had to be black, and men still had to wear a starched white shirt and bowtie in the evenings, with black trousers and black shoes. Of course, we must not forget the hat!
For centuries past, and into the 1920s, no man who had any style or manners went anywhere in public without a hat of some sort covering his head. In the summer, light straw hats or shallow stiff-brimmed hats called boaters or skimmers could be worn to meet that obligation, while in the winter, the felt fedora ruled the day. The boaters and skimmers differed only in the width of their brim. The felt fedora is best known today as a gangsters hat, but it was loved by most men because of its comfort.
In the 1920s, the rising economic times and rise of the automobile meant that clothing designers took note. They began to create clothing to be worn exclusively while driving, such as the flat English driving hat and vented leather gloves. These were considered essential when taking your sweetheart for a drive.
Of course, other cultural icons, such as aviator Charles Lindbergh, also impacted fashion. His leather coat became popular, and many men liked to wear the scarf too. The jacket was considered a necessity, in fact, with no man of style wanting to be without one.
The fashion of the 20s was jazzy, with a pop and sizzle all its own. This would last until the stock market crash of 1929, when money became too tight for fashion. Though it would take the fashion industry years to listen and cater to the young again as much as they did in the 20s, there was no chance of a return to the dress codes and expectations of centuries past. Youth had had its say, and wouldnt go back. Stuffiness in dress was over; it was the dawn of a new age.

Wearing red–the color of life and love–can do more than help you stop traffic. It could help save lives.
Wearing Red Has Never Been So Stylish-Or Such A Healthy Idea
Wearing red-the color of life and love-can do more than help you stop traffic. It could help save lives.
As part of the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement, millions of women are wearing this joyful color to celebrate their commitment to keeping their hearts healthy.
The movement has helped revive interest in making the color red even more fashionable. Wearing this vibrant color offers women a chance to stand out and make a statement.
“Color is an easy and affordable way to express yourself through what you wear,” says style and beauty expert Andy Paige. “Red is an empowering color. Once you feel the lift this color gives your spirits and see the attention it attracts, you may decide to make it a mainstay of your wardrobe all year.”
According to Paige, there are as many ways to wear red as there are good reasons to do it.
Go Red from head to toe or accent an outfit with red accessories. Carry a fabulous red handbag or kick up your heels in red stilettos. Red isn’t just for women, either; men can Go Red by wearing a red shirt, tie or socks.
Try these tips from Paige:
Pick the perfect red. If your coloring is warm, try a rich tomato or pomegranate. If it’s cool, think cherry or scarlet.
Worried about looking washed out? Fill in the neckline of a red blouse or sweater with a scarf in a softer shade or wear red away from your face-in a skirt, pants or boots.
Put a new spin on it. Wear red accessories, like the ones at ShopGoRed.com, in offbeat ways. Substitute two tiny red-dress pins (the Go Red For Women symbol) for cufflinks on a French-cuffed shirt; tie a red-dress logo scarf around your wrist or use it as a watchband.
Don’t forget your lips, tips and locks. Glossy red lipstick and nail polish are classic ways to add a touch of glamour. Take it a step further and color your hair red-any shade from strawberry blonde to burgundy will do.
Be Bold, Be Noticed and Be Heart Healthy
Regardless of the shade or the accessory you choose, wearing red can also be a fashion statement that says, “I am taking a stand for my heart health.”
Paige advises, “Incorporating red into your wardrobe serves as a visual reminder to love your heart and Go Red in your own fashion.”
