Even people who make their living off of winter, like tire salesmen, chimney sweeps, and snowplow drivers, can’t seem to wait for the frosty days to end. Just this week I tried the tight jeans-bulky sweater-chunky boots look. It looked winter, but it didn’t work for winter. I fought with every jacket in my closet, trying to cajole one to button over my new oversized turtleneck sweater. I was relieved when I finally got my pea coat to close, but the relief washed away when I bustled over to the mirror to see that I looked about 7 months pregnant.

All the layering would be great — if I was studying polar bears in the Arctic for the day. I wasn’t. I was on my way to work. I made a quick stop at the coffee shop, and the second I walked in, I started overheating. By the time I got to the counter, I could smell my perspiration starting to mix with the wool of the sweater. I like the natural beauty look, but I’m not fond of the smell. I was waiting for my mocha and madly fanning myself with a menu, when I glanced down to see that my new furry boots had nearly been ruined by the rock salt scattered on the city sidewalks.

After all the time I spent buying, planning, and putting on my new outfit, my sparkly chandelier earrings were the only thing that survived the morning. They were the least expensive part of my attire, and I got compliments on them all day. Apparently a little twinkle makes people feel good.

Like any smart woman, I resort to black in the wintertime despite what the houses of haute couture scream at us about wearing more color. Black looks good day or night, and for a girl on the run, it doesn’t require much thought. The best thing about black is that it hides all types of flaws, like those caused by eating an entire pumpkin cheesecake on Thanksgiving. But black is not only thinning; it’s a great palette for accessories.

This year, women have a lot of jewelry options. You can fall back on the old basic of diamonds. Or you can try this winter’s exciting new collections of colored pearls and shells. They look fabulous with black, and they can be as dressy as a diamond necklace, while offering more personality and flare. You can also highlight your eye color with a similar colored necklace. Close friends and family will attend ceremony

John Travolta and Kelly Preston will pay tribute to their son Jett at a memorial service on Thursday.

The 16-year-old died after suffering a seizure at the family’s holiday home in the Bahamas last week.

John, who is a trained pilot, flew his boy’s ashes home to Ocala, Florida, early yesterday.

It is thought the private ceremony will be for close friends and family.

Meanwhile, it has emerged John, 54, broke down in tears as he cradled his son in hospital.

He and Kelly also have 8-year-old daughter Ella.

You can easily spot a cheapie from underwear that is well made. Simply check the seams and the kind of fabric used. If it seems to be poorly made, forget it, even if it costs a bargain you will just end up spending more – on new underwear to replace that cheap one you just bought.

However, if you already have underwear that you absolutely love – the fit feels great as well as the materials used, then why not just stock up on the same ones the next time you go underwear shopping. There is nothing corny about stocking up on something that already works well for you. It is simply being practical.

Lastly, if you are not sure about your size, do not be embarrassed to ask the sales attendants. They probably have a good idea on what will work best for you. Although, you shouldn’t also let them cajole you into buying something that you do not want either. It really just boils down to how happy and comfortable you are with the product.

I love going to a department store especially when I am in a hurry because I can pick up almost anything I need in one stop. Whether I am looking for clothing, shoes, jewlery, makeup, or something for my home, the department store usually has just what I need. It is much easier for me to shop in one place that I know provides a variety of great products. There is nothing better than entering a department store and then leaving it an hour later with my entire list accomplished.

I also enjoy shopping at department stores because usually they are very reasonable in price. I do not have the money to spend on unique stores and specialized boutiques all of the time, so a department store is often a great alternative. I can usually find great name brand items at a fraction of the regular cost. Keep track of sale flyers that come in the newspaper or sign up to receive weekly store coupons through your email account. There are ways to make shopping more reasonable, especially at department stores.

Another great thing about a department store is that I can usually find items for everyone in my family, regardless of their ages or preferences. It is an amazing thing to be able to enter one store and come out with something for my grandmother, my father, my husband and my three year old daughter. I love it. I just move from department to department until I have accomplished everything I need. I cannot begin to think of all the time I save by just going to a department store or two rather than to a speciality shop for all the ages of people I need to shop for.

One of my favorite times of the year to utilize a department store is the holidays. Shopping during the holidays is magical no matter what, but there is no place quite as magical as a well-decorated department store. Department stores are often filled with great deals and specials based on the amount of money you spend there.

I encourage everyone to explore the possibilities that shopping at a department store offers. See if you don’t just fall in love with how easy, reasonable and fun it is.

I wished I could be writing you under happier circumstances but I cannot because Two of my very good friends, (John and Kelly Travolta ) the sweetest people in the world have just encountered the worst possible tragedy a parent could be forced to endure, the death of their son Jett. My heart is crying and bleeding for them. I personally would not have it in me to bury my own child.  I am writing this because I have noticed that for the most part, people and the media have been very sympathetic and respectful, but there are those certain ones that want to use this horrible tragedy as an opportunity to once again, blame and or attack Scientology?

Folks, as popular as it has been to discriminate and ridicule Scientology and Scientologist’s in the recent past , Now is NOT the time.  I realize that there is a lot of misinformation out there about the subject which has caused a lot of stone throwing but we are not still in the dark ages and it is still an Unconstitutional Injustice to partake in and encourage such condemnation. 

Among most of the crazy made up garbage that goes around about it , It is not true that Scientologist’s "Don’t believe in " medical care , medicine or medical Doctors and that may have something to do with this terrible tragedy. Just like anyone else, If one is sick , they go to the doctor, If a medication will make it better then they take it.  If they don’t then they are an idiot and you can’t blame their religion.   Whatever medical and or physical condition Jett had , I can tell you first hand that his parents were on a tireless, never ending quest to get and provide him with the absolute best care anyone could ever ask for and need, Medically, physically, emotionally, medicinally and spiritually.

I am not writing this to preach my beliefs, I am here to protect my friends.  To the few of you out there that this may apply to, Let’s not use the tragic death of a child to facilitate your insatiable need to attack and destroy Scientology shall we? John and Kelly have done nothing but spend their lives and their time helping others, making people happy and making peoples lives better.  Please let this family grieve in peace.

At last! Baby wear for 2009 is going back to basics – beautiful basics. Organic baby wear has becoming increasingly popular as more and more people consider the environment and fabrics made from purely natural materials are being called for.

However, it has now come to the point where they need to listen to what parents want and fortunately, there are enough baby wear producers around for parents to favour those that make natural products. These have been used for many reasons of which eco-friendliness is just one.

More and more children are becoming prone to skin rashes. This is due in part to central heating and a change over the years in diet but also to the over-use of man-made fabrics which can easily irritate the sensitive skin of a young baby.

Nylon, polyester and acrylic are the worst ingredients to have in your baby wear if you have a sensitive baby. The worst result is eczema which can become irritated when these fabrics are next to the skin. This will lead to itching and open scratches and sores and consequently, interrupted sleep for all.

Cotton is the first natural product you would think of aiming for in baby wear but you can also use silk if your child is allergic. This may sound a bit extreme but if you can afford it, it’s a very good fabric to use. It will keep baby cool in summer and warm in winter. It is a light, breathable material that will not irritate your child’s skin.

If your baby is prone to skin rashes because of the material of clothing, you should also consider changing bedding for wholly natural fibres and also check your washing powder and fabric softener, changing them for sensitive ones is a good idea.

One thing is for certain – whether your baby has sensitive skin or not, they will always benefit from wearing natural materials next to their skin. You simply cannot beat the comfort factor of a pure cotton baby gro or socks and cardigans. They are also great for the parents as they are easy to wash.

At the end of the day, everybody wants what is best for their baby and ensuring they have the best start in life should include introducing them to things that are best for them. Regardless of cost, a few essential items of clothing made from the best fabrics you can afford are better than a whole wardrobe of nylon!

The average incandescent bulb emits 12-15 lumens per watt while a compact fluorescent bulb emit 60 lumens per watt, a 4 to 5 times better output. • Apart from its energy and money efficiency, CFL bulbs are considered much better for the environment. One CFL can check more than 450 pounds of emissions from a power plant over its lifetime.
• CFL bulbs produce about 75% less heat for added comfort and lower cooling costs.
