The High Fiber Food Diet Secret

Could fiber rich food could be the secret to long-term, healthy weight loss? See what a study published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association discovered.

high fiber food, fiber rich food, weight loss success story

High fiber food is not talked about much but definitely a secret to losing weight. Did you know that boosting your fiber intake actually helps you drop pounds?

High fiber food also has many other health benefits but most people don’t know about losing weight with fiber rich food.

Here is what a recent study published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association discovered.

The main difference between “normal-weight” adults and their overweight counterparts was the amount of fiber they consumed.

Both groups had similar intakes of sugar, bread, dairy products and vegetables. But the normal-weight subjects consumed 33 percent more dietary fiber and 43 percent more complex carbohydrates each day (per 1,000 calories) than those who were overweight.

So why do you suppose high fiber food plays such a big role with weight loss?

First, high fiber foods are most often low in fat and calories. Also the body can’t break down fiber, so it runs right through your digestive tract and never has a chance to turn into fat.

But the biggest advantage of high fiber food is that it swells in your stomach and actually makes you have a full feeling. When you feel full, you’re less likely to eat or snack.

High fiber food also helps to stabilize blood sugar levels, preventing those peaks and valleys that can send you running to the refrigerator.

Most fiber rich foods like fruits, vegetables, beans and whole grains also have a healthy dose of antioxidants that give you defenses against disease.

Millions of overweight people continually look for quick fixes and unnatural weight loss solutions. But most are usually disappointed with the roller coaster results.

That’s because many find it hard to believe that something as simple as incorporating high fiber food into your diet could actually help you lose weight.

But for those who are looking for long-term, healthy weight loss, eating high fiber food could be the beginning of their weight loss success story.

Unorthodox Therapy – Weight Loss Hypnosis

By , May 26, 2015 1:07 pm

What we are trying to achieve by using weight loss hypnosis is a change in our eating habits or our set point that will keep us healthy and allow us to eat enough to reach and maintain our ideal weight.

weight loss hypnosis, hypnosis, weight loss, lose weight

Overview:

There are no effortless or painless ways of losing substantial amounts of weight. All the current slimming pills, devices and surgical procedures for weight loss are of limited effectiveness. Many of these so-called best weight loss programs carry significant risks and should only be contemplated in extreme cases. Many weight loss products and devices are frankly fraudulent. Substantial weight loss requires the body to be in prolonged energy deficit but we have evolved a very efficient body mechanism that drives us to eat enough food to prevent energy deficit. Our control mechanism may permit, or even encourage, overeating but nature makes energy deficit very uncomfortable. Medically, it is referred to as “Hynoscript.” Every person has an inborn weight control mechanism, a set point that attempts to maintain a particular amount of fat on the body.

When we diet we are trying to resist these powerful, natural urges that normally prevent energy deficit. Appetite suppressant drugs may reduce these drives, weight loss hypnosis may help us to resist them and dietary manipulations may maximize the satiating power of each food calorie. Ultimately, however, the dieter is still going to have to endure considerable discomfort and exercise considerable willpower to lose a lot of weight. Despite this pessimistic conclusion and despite all the hurdles, anyone who does achieve prolonged energy deficit will lose weight. Weight loss is not impossible for anyone if they are determined enough, persistent enough and if they have a sound weight loss program.

Most weight gain problems are the direct result of our own habits. We eat too much and exercise too little. This fact has advanced the healthcare and weight-loss industries as the largest in our society today. Many people each year disappointed with the orthodox forms of treatments seek out various methods to help them lose unwanted pounds, such as acupressure, magnet therapy, and weight loss hypnosis. There is still no concrete evidence to validate these therapies. However, if you want to try weight loss hypnosis, try to have an open mind but do not count on it working. The treatment of obesity through hypnosis or hypnotism can be helpful for people who are not able to resist the temptation to eat more food, in spite of being aware that obesity is a hazardous syndrome.

What you are trying to achieve by using weight loss hypnosis is a change in your eating habits or your set point that will keep you healthy and allow you to eat enough to reach and maintain your ideal weight. If using weight loss hypnosis you can keep your weight down for three years you will have established a new set point and it will be easy to maintain your lower weight. Think of your weight loss hypnosis as a thermostat that regulates your weight. It is nonetheless advisable to follow a low-calorie whole foods diet, along with your weight loss hypnosis. And as with any professional service, validate the hypnotist’s credentials and check references.

The responsibility for the success or failure of any weight loss hypnosis ultimately lies with the dieter rather than the hypnotist or therapist. The professional can only empower and encourage the dieter. This is a difficult concept for many dieters and professionals to accept. Normally, when we consult a doctor about an injury or illness, our role as “patients” is seen as a largely passive one – we are required merely to take the prescribed drugs. The professional’s skill in selecting and carrying out the correct treatment is seen as the crucial factor for successful recovery. Weight loss hypnosis is at the opposite end of this spectrum of control. In weight loss hypnosis, the expert can usually do no more than provide information, advice and encouragement. The success of failure of the treatment depends largely upon the patient’s ability to understand, interpret and successfully implement the treatment plan.

With so many ways advertised for losing weight, where do you start? This article considers some inexpensive, natural herbal solutions to your quest for weight loss.

weight, herbal, products, weight loss, tea, food, herbal weight,, herbal weight loss, loss products, natural, organic, caffeine, organic food

These days, there is a great deal of pressure for overweight people aroundthe world to lose those excess pounds. Being closer to their ideal weight would not only lead them to have a healthier lifestyle but it will also literally lighten their load, and improve their overall well-being.

There is a long list of dieting options available. There are exercise programs, exercise machines, dietary supplements, dietary food and drinks, diet pills – there are even soaps which claim to help you lose pounds while you bathe.

One other available option to shed off those unwanted pounds is to go herbal.

Herbal weight loss products have been in great demand for people who want to lose weight the natural way. However, when you take herbal supplements to lose weight, you would have to wait for a longer time for the results because of the more subtle effects of medicines which came from plants and natural herbs.

Here are some herbal weight loss options that you might want to consider:

1. Herbal weight loss products

There are a lot of herbal weight loss products available in the market now. You can check out the Internet and you will find a lot of herbal weight loss pills and products.

Be careful, however, as there are some products which claim to be safe and natural because they are herbal, but some actually have side effects because of non-extensive research on the effects of these products.

Here are some ingredients and chemicals which make up some herbal weight loss products that you should watch out for, as they might have harmful effects to your health:

> Senna. This is an herbal laxative. Senna is a main ingredient in weight loss teas, and it works by stimulation the colon. The downside effect of this herb is dehydration. It can also lead to colon problems and can become addictive. Some people, when addicted, are unable to perform bowel movements without it, so watch out.

> Chromium picolinate. This is a synthetic compound found in herbal weight loss products. Chromium is a nutrient which helps regulate blood-sugar level. However, this ingredient, when taken in high doses, may cause damage in the chromosomes. It can also lead to dehydration.

> St. John’s wort. This supplement increases the production of a chemical in the brain. If not used properly, it may cause eye and skin sensitivity, mild gastrointestinal distress, fatigue and itching.

Although a lot of herbal products claim to be safe and natural, it is better to scrutinize the ingredients and research about the effects of the product itself before going for these herbal dietary pills.

2. Organic food.

Around the world organic food has found its way to more homes and restaurants. Organic food devotees believe that consuming organic goodies help their bodies as well as the environment.

A person who buys organically raised eggs and vegetables claim to be healthier, and they are not spending money on doctors and prescriptions as these keep them healthier and away from the hospital. This could also be an option for weight watchers, as organic food is known to be kinder to your weight than chemically-processed food products.

3. Green Tea.

Studies show that intake of green tea, or green tea extracts burns extra calories. Also, green tea with caffeine can increase fat burning by up to 40% thereby reducing fat.

This is one good option for those who want to lose weight. In a study done, people who took green tea were found to lose 2 to 3 times more weight than those who did not drink green tea.

These results show that green tea is a natural product for the treatment of obesity. Thus, it also makes for a healthier dietary option, not to mention the good effects that it has on the body as compared to caffeine. A cup of tea gives an emmediate energy lift without the side effects of caffeine.

3. Caffeine.

Coffee provides an energy boost to increase fat burning. Caffeine also provides a likelihood to be active, which in turn increases your rate of calorie burn.

4. Immortality Herb

This herb, whose scientific name is Gymnostemna Pentaphyllum, is known to have the following benefits:

> increases healthy blood flow
> reduces artery blocks
> aids healthy blood pressure
> increases the rate of fat burning

5. Apple Cider Vinegar

There are pills and food supplements whose main ingredient is apple cider vinegar. Here are the benefits of taking this herbal option:

> weight loss
> improved cholesterol level
> improved high blood pressure
> helps prevent rheumatoid arthritis

The Secret Weight Loss Machine

There is a piece of equipment available that has been shown in clinical tests to be unsurpassed for assisting in your weight loss goals – want to know what it is?

weight loss, treadmill, treadmills, exercise treadmill

There is a piece of equipment available that has been shown in clinical tests to be unsurpassed for assisting in your weight loss goals – want to know what it is?

The Treadmill – exercising on Treadmills has helped many people to achieve their weight loss goals – and it can help you too.

Treadmills can be used by virtually any age group, and by individuals of any activity level. Treadmills can help you lose weight, and maintain your weight loss.

It really is a numbers game. The more time you spend engaged in physical exercise the more calories you are going to burn and consequently the more pounds you will lose.

If you are searching for fitness equipment that will not only burn fat, but will also raise your metabolism to continue burning fat long after youve stopped exercising, then a treadmill should be at the top of your list.

The treadmill is matchless for cardiovascular exercise. According to a recent study, calories burned on the treadmill for 60 minutes averaged 865 – 705.
Compare this figure to the following:

Stair machine 746 – 637
Rowing machine 739 – 606
Stationary cycle 604 – 556
Cross-country ski machine 678 – 595

As you can see the treadmill comes out as the number one cardiovascular machine.

If you would like to develop your own weight loss treadmill program here are some ideas:

Be creative – make your Treadmill session pleasurable, listen to music or audio books on your MP3 player. Some people prefer to just take the opportunity to think or just day dream. The more you enjoy your Treadmill session, the more likely you are to exercise on your treadmill regularly.

Try to exercise daily. Working out on your Treadmill regularly makes your weight loss goals much more likely to happen than if you are only working out only when the mood takes you. Most people that make the switch will tell you that it’s easier to workout every day. You don’t have to think about whether it’s a workout day or not and get prepared for it – just exercise on your treadmill every day – your body will become accustomed to it. It will soon become part of your routine and you will begin to look forward to it.

Try to mix in some interval training into your Treadmill sessions each week. Interval training consists of brief periods (about one minute) of more intense exercise incorporated into your Treadmill workouts. You may do a one minute interval of faster walking about every five minutes throughout your workout.

Start with a three to five minute warm-up and then five minutes into your walk you do your first interval, one minute of faster walking. At the end of that minute you should be out of breath and ready to slow down. Slow down to your regular walking speed for the next four minutes and then your fifth minute is another one minute interval. Repeat this throughout your workout.

By this means you can increase your aerobic fitness level to the limits of your ability. You are in essence crossing the anaerobic threshold into anaerobic metabolism, this forces your body to accept more intense exercise which will in turn make your weight loss gains more achievable.

By increasing your basal metabolic rate, interval training cause you to burn more calories a day, and make your exercise less monotonous. Interval training also helps the time pass more quickly.

Try walking on your Treadmill with light hand weights of between one and two pounds weight for two to three days per week. Swing your arms and also use a variety of arm movements while walking. This will increase your basal metabolic rate and tone your upper body muscles.

Try to do your Treadmill workout first thing in the day. Most people who workout regularly, do so first thing in the morning. If YOU want to exercise regularly, you are more likely to succeed by being an “early bird”

In order to add a bit more variety to your routine set one day of the week aside to be your “easy day”. This should be a very leisurely session. Consider how good your walks are starting to feel as you continue to lose weight and tone your body.

You have probably heard the expression “if you can’t measure it, then it doesn’t exist”. With this in mind make sure that you record your progress. Record the date and time-of-day of your workout, and the distance and/or time you walked. Record the total of the miles or minutes you’ve walked. Your thoughts or feelings for that particular workout can also be logged.

All of the above measures will help to ensure that your Treadmill Exercise Session is that one special time of day to take care of yourself. Don’t let anyone or anything keep you from your special time with your Treadmill. Working out on your Treadmill every day will help you achieve your weight loss goals and have a positive impact on all aspects of your life, including physical, mental, and emotional health.

If we only consider the issue of weight loss, the Treadmill is significantly superior to any other exercise machine given its associated energy expenditure. While other fitness equipment “fads” gather dust Treadmills have consistently provided quality results and lasting benefits. Treadmills allow you to work at your own pace, but don’t allow you to slack off. You’ll be able to burn calories efficiently and attain your weight loss targets.

If you’re in the market to seriously educate yourself about treadmills, visit http://www.treadmilladviser.com where you can obtain more detailed information.

Are you looking into the different ways that can help you to lose weight? Have you tried a number of different diets in the past but still find yourself being overweight? Are you fed up with being fat? Do you yearn the day when you can buy the type of clothes that you really want? If you have answered yes to any of these questions then this article could well prove to be of benefit to you.

I am somebody who until a few years ago would have answered yes to all of the above questions. I had tried many forms of diet, I would buy clothes that suited my size rather than the clothes I actually wanted to wear. I was without doubt fed up with being fat and was desperate to find a way of losing weight which would last.

In my opinion the answer to all of weight problems was quite simple. I do not need any fancy diet, what I needed to do was to think in a logical way. I first of all had to ask myself a number of questions:

Question. Why are you overweight?

Answer: I eat far too much food and drink far too much alcohol. The food that I do eat is basically fat food such as crisps, chocolate, takeaways and microwave food. I also do very little exercise, therefore I do not give my body a chance to burn off some of this fat. I tend to rarely walk anywhere, I prefer to drive.

Question. Why have you been unsuccessful with your past dieting attempts?

Answer: I did not really follow the program. I may have done for the short term but certainly did not over the longer term. I also gave into temptations by eating food types which I was not really supposed to.

Question. How much do you want to lose this excess weight?

Answer. A huge amount.

Question. So why do you not follow the dieting programs to the letter?

Answer. I am weak, I suppose.

As you can see, the answers to my weight issues are in the answers to these questions. Quite simply I need to:

Be more disciplined

Be more determined

Be stronger

Walk and exercise a lot more

Eat in a much more healthy way

Cut down my intake of alcohol

Stick to the above for the long term

A couple of years ago I started to implement my new logical form of diet and I am happy to report that I am now at a size that I am happy with.

The Ten Best Diet Foods In Existence

What you eat and what you eat will have a big effect on how quickly you take off pounds, and more importantly, how long you keep those pounds off. There are certain foods that you really should be eating on a regular basis, for lots of good, healthy reasons. They come from all food categories, but every one of them has one thing in common: they pack a lot of nutritional punch into their calories. Here’s a list of five diet foods that will help you stay healthy and lose weight

Here’s a list of five diet foods that will help you stay healthy and lose weight.

1. Whole grain breads

If you’ve been paying attention, you know that evil carbs are the current diet buster. If you just stay away from all carbs, some of the diets proclaim, you’ll lose weight no matter what else you eat. That’s not only wrong, it’s downright dangerous for both your health and your diet. There’s a reason that the Bible refers to bread as ‘the staff of life’.

Instead of cutting out carbs, you should be aiming to reduce them to a healthy portion of your diet – which most doctors agree is about 50-60% of your caloric intake. That means that if you’re on a 1500 calorie a day diet, you should be striving to get about 900 calories a day from grains, fruits and vegetables. Whole grain breads pack a lot of nutritional value. Replace your two slices of white toast with 1/2 a cup of oatmeal or whole grain cereal, and for about the same number of calories, you’ll be getting three times the vitamins, amino acids and roughage that your body needs to function. You’ll feel full far longer, too – because you’ve given your body something to work on that will take a while to digest.

2. Fish

Eat at least three servings of fish per week, say many major medical associations. Fish is low in fat, as high in protein as red meat, and provides something that most other proteins don’t – omega 3 fatty acids. Omega 3 is one of the main building blocks in your cells. If your body doesn’t get enough Omega 3, it will try to build cells from other fatty acids. The problem is that those cells are not as flexible, and not quite the right shape. Among the cells that aren’t quite right are the ones in your brain that help control impulses and tell your body what it needs. By providing enough Omega 3 for your body to use, you’ll be healing the damage done through years of poor diet. And since fish, as a general rule, has fewer calories than most meats, you’ll be saving calories, too. Just remember that you’re REPLACING portions of meat with fish, not adding them to what you already eat.

3. Spinach

At 13 calories and 2 grams of carbohydrate in 2 cups of chopped raw spinach, this is one of the lowest cost sources of nutrition you can give your body. Every serving gives you folic acid, manganese,beta-carotene, protein, lutein (a potent anti-oxidant), magnesium, vitamin C and vitamin K. You can eat it raw in salads, steamed as a side dish, or sautéed in a tiny bit of oil for a different taste, and still get all the nutritional benefits.

4. Olive Oil

Your body does need a little fat to process vitamins and use them properly. Olive oil is a mono-unsaturated fat that is the primary source of fat in the so-called Mediterranean diet. It contains antioxidants, flavonoids, beta-carotene and vitamin E, among other things. One tablespoon has a whopping 125 calories, but drizzled on a 13 calorie spinach salad with a little lemon juice and some garlic, you still have a meal with less than 150 calories – and a whole lot of healthy fuel for your body.

5. Pink Grapefruit

With only 40 calories in half a grapefruit, you’re getting 45 mg of vitamin C, lycopene, pectin, beta-carotene and potassium. It’s versatile and tasty. Eat it as is for breakfast, or toss it into a salad with spinach for an extra punch to perk up the nutritional quality of your diet.

Most importantly, don’t base your diet around any single ONE ingredient. The best way to lose weight is to eat a healthy variety of foods to make sure that you get all the essential nutrients that you need each day.

The big, the fat and ugly story

Makes a good movie title, doesn’t it?

Interestingly, it is and there seems to be a lot of voluntary actors ?children, adults and old alike who are actively taking part in it. Now the question is, “Are you one of them??
Big, fat and ugly is the last thing one desires to be. But because of impulsive eating disorders, clinging
bad habits, no exercise and lifestyle choices; it is exactly what most people are turning out to be. However, in this process, it is futile to blame the burgeoning fast food chains, restaurants, cookie companies and wafer manufacturers for acting as a hurdle in the quest to lose weight. Because, while there are millions of overweight and obese people doing the rounds, there are also those groups of people who are in perfect shape and leading a healthy life.

Hence, the logical thing to do now is to find out what sets these two groups apart. And if this guess is right, the difference lies in the willingness to go that extra mile.

In today’s informative world, when everything can be accessed by the click of a button, it would be ridiculous to think that people do not know what to do and what not to do. On the contrary, people are spoilt for choices. There are thousands of websites, magazines and other communication tools that are overflowing with information on how to lose weight with the help of diet plans, exercise regimens and diet pills like Phentermine or Didrex. It is all there, but the problem is that while some take the information and use it, others just gaze and don’t do anything about it.

So, taking all this into perspective, the problem doesn’t seem to be the lack of information that is shouldering the obesity revolution, but rather the lack of determination and lethargy. Everything has
been laid out in front, sometime even over simplified and spoon fed. But despite of all these efforts, the
fight against obesity has failed miserably because the people are not willing to participate.

Therefore, at the end of it all, it looks as if people who are getting overweight and obese are a result of their own free will. And if truth be spoken, they know that. Unless and until that changes, nothing concrete is going to happen in the pursuit to losing weight.

The Glycemic Index & Weight Loss Explained

By , May 12, 2015 6:19 am

Not so long ago, the media reported that we should reduce our fat intake for health reasons. Consequently, carbohydrates came under the spotlight and a new trend developed: eat less fat and fill up on carbs. This article will explain how we can use the Glycemic Index to identify which carbohydrates are best for weight loss.

Not so long ago, the media reported that we should reduce our fat intake for health reasons. Consequently, carbohydrates came under the spotlight and a new trend developed: eat less fat and fill up on carbs.

Carbohydrates may be low in fat, but eat too many and the excess calories is readily and easily converted by your body into fat. Given that most people think only of carbohydrates as starchy foods such as bread and pasta, the new trend resulted in rapidly expanding waistbands! Fortunately, fruit and vegetables are also carbohydrates – commonly known as ‘complex’ carbohydrates.

These re the ‘good guys’ because they are slowly digested and help to reduce hunger and keep blood sugar levels on an even keel. This is ever so important for people trying to maintain or control their weight. Whenever blood sugar levels drop too low, this very often is a powerful trigger sending you into the cupboard in search for sugar or starchy carbohydrates.

Good carbohydrates are easy to spot. They are the vividly coloured fresh fruit and vegetables such as peppers, carrots, tomatoes and spinach.

The Glycemic Index, otherwise known as GI, is a measurement that can help us differentiate between carbohydrates and choose those that have the most hunger control and the greatest potential to maintain blood sugar levels.

The GI is a system that indicates how fast a particular food will trigger a rise in blood sugar levels. A food with a high GI will cause a rapid rise in blood sugar while a food with a low GI will create a slower rise.

The GI runs from 0 to 100 and uses pure glucose as a reference point, with the maximum value of 100. For example, a banana has a GI score of 62, foods between 55-70 are mid-GI and foods over 70 are considered high GI.

Low GI Apples (39), oranges (40), pears (38), soy beans (15), kidney beans (29), lentils (29), porridge (49), wholegrain rye bread (41), corn on the cob (35), peanuts (15).

High GI White bread (70), French bread (95), white rice (70), baked potatoes (85), mashed potatoes (90), cooked carrots (85)

Glycemic Index Facts Foods only appear on the GI if they contain carbohydrates. Meat, chicken, eggs, fish and cheese are not given a GI value as these are sources of protein. However, processed meats such as sausages may be included because they contain flour which is a carbohydrate. Low GI foods can help control your appetite by creating a fuller feeling for longer after eating which is good news for weight management.

Fats and protein slow down the absorption of carbohydrates, whilst the GI of foods can be further affected by cooking, processing, ripeness and variety. This makes it difficult to accurately rate the GI of a typical meal.

Low GI foods can be high in calories. For example, a cup of kidney beans is approximately 215 calories, yet 1/2 cup of peanuts is approximately 450 calories!

High GI foods are useful after exercise when muscle stores of sugar need to be quickly restored.

A typical balanced meal should provide a mixture of foods including fats, proteins and carbohydrates. By including low GI foods with each meal, the body takes longer to absorb the carbohydrates, which helps to slow overall absorption and keep blood sugar levels steadier between meals.
