When considering what to include in a weight loss diet, there are two factors that you should always consider early. The first is whether or not your chosen diet will be sufficiently nutritious to keep you healthy. The second is if the diet will be tasty enough to maintain your interest, rather than for you to opt out through boredom.

It is possible to address both of these concerns at the same time by considering health food vitamins, and in so doing you may be in for some pleasant surprises. Much will depend in your tastes in food, but with experimentation, you should be able to construct a diet, within the guidelines of your nutritionist and doctor, that is also interesting enough to enable you to not only stick to the diet but enjoy it also.

If you are able to end up with a diet that you can really enjoy, then there is a chance that it will become a lifelong habit. It is possible to make permanent changes; I know that from personal experience. Initially, it can be difficult to make drastic changes, but it can be done much easier if you are enjoying the food you are eating. In many cases, drastic changes may not even be needed, but that is something it is best to discuss with your doctor in relation to your own health and weight problem.

I have selected five of my best diet foods, health foods rich in vitamins and other nutrients, which will provide you with some of the most important nutrients to sustain you during your diet:

Tomatoes

I find tomatoes one of the most versatile and useful foods for cooking, and can be used to add interest to all sorts of meals, such as curries, casseroles and soups. Tomatoes go well with lean meats, or mixed with other vegetables, when used for cooking. They are also delicious raw, if you can find good tomatoes rather than the insipidly flavoured tomatoes you may find in the supermarket.

Tomatoes also happen to be one of the most valuable health foods, rich in lycopene, plus vitamins A and C. Lycopene is a powerful antioxidant, which is why much scientific attention has been paid to tomatoes in recent years. Lycopene’s ability to neutralize free radicals that cause cell damage has been the centre of attention, due to the possible potential in cancer prevention.

Tomatoes also have one other special asset. That is, that the nutrients are not destroyed during cooking, and even processed tomato products such as tomato sauce or ketchup, and canned tomatoes, retain the nutritional benefits. Tomatoes are therefore my health food super hero.

Garlic

When it comes to making boring foods tasty, garlic is way up there amongst the best. Along with tomatoes, garlic is an important part of the Mediterranean Diet. Like tomatoes, it can be used with just about any other cooked food, so whatever your diet regime is, you should find you can utilize garlic widely to satisfy your palate.

Garlic has some important nutrients too, such as calcium, vitamin C and vitamin B6, phosphorus and selenium, plus antibiotic properties.

Basil

Basil is a humble and popular herb that can be used liberally to bring its distinctive flavour to other foods. What you may not realize is that basil also packs a punch when it comes to calcium, phosphorus, vitamin A and vitamin C. Also, basil is a good source of iron, potassium and magnesium, and carotenoids such as beta carotene.

How about tomato and basil soup, with a touch of garlic? A super combo of health foods that will fit into most diets.

Strawberries

The mention of strawberries seems like a self indulgence; their flavour to some can seem too good to be true (me included). Well, indulge, because the strawberry is a great health food too, with some nutrients you may not have anticipated. Strawberries contain Vitamin C, vitamin K and manganese, folic acid, potassium, riboflavin, vitamin B5, vitamin B6, copper, magnesium and omega-3 fatty acids.

Strawberries are best fresh and eaten on their own. (Please read carefully. I did not say strawberries should be eaten laced in sugar with a dollop of clotted cream.)

Spinach

Many may turn their noses up at the mention of spinach; I know I did as a child. However, once you discover its true flavour, spinach does make an excellent food as a side vegetable, in a soup or in a curry. All the old stories about the goodness of spinach were true, as it contains Vitamin C, iron, beta carotene and calcium., plus vitamins E and K, fibre, lutein and zeaxanthin (carotenoids).

Those are just a few ideas for healthy foods, rich in nutrients, that can add flavour and interest to your diet, as you set out to make a permanent lifestyle change to lose weight.

Is there a painless way to lower cholesterol and lose weight? Can you eat your way there? Oh sure, you might say; but wait, consider the merits of the Mediterranean Diet. Virgin olive oil may be the perfect replacement for butter and margarine.

The Mediterranean Diet: What the Greeks Know about healthy cuisine

“If you have health, you probably will be happy, and if you have health and happiness, you have all the wealth you need, even if it is not all you want.?– Elbert Hubbard.

There are so many approaches to optimum wellness. Infomercials tell us about a variety of diet plans from pills and native plants to the benefits of liquid diets over conventional weight loss methods. What should you believe?

One of the clarion calls of caution is the old adage, “If it’s too good to be true – it probably is.?
The Mediterranean Diet relies solely on age old wisdom. Present research verification demonstrates that one man’s daily meal is another man’s trip to optimum wellness.

In Greece, certain symptoms of heart disease are among the lowest in the world. It would seem that the largest body of current scientific research indicates that a diet high in fruits and veggies along with routine consumption of whole grains, legumes, fish, low fat dairy products, olive oil and nuts provide long term and protective health benefits.

With the Mediterranean diet you will find that optimal health is even more important than the accompanying weight loss. What native Greek’s have intuitively known for centuries has now been linked to scientific data that shows adherence to common Mediterranean diet practices may result in a reduction in heart disease, increased life expectancy and reduced risk of some cancers. The health benefits of olive oil have long been realized in Greece.

The term “Mediterranean Diet?truly is a generic term because the diet in Greece remains varied. You will find influences from North Africa and Italy in many Greek dishes, however the island of Crete has proven a veritable treasure trove of health research. Residents of Crete have one of the lowest heart disease risks in the world.

Interestingly, western culture is looking into the health benefits found in countries like Greece, but many of the younger population in Greece are seeking out western cuisine. The trend has proven somewhat antithetical to the wellness experienced by older Greeks. While parents are consuming melons, stuffed tomatoes, salads and yogurt, the younger Greek generation are consuming cookies, hamburgers, French fries, pizza and pop. The result is an increase in obesity among Greek’s youth culture – researchers expect to see an accompanying rise in heart disease in the years to come.

With the Mediterranean diet, butter is replaced with the health benefits of olive oil, fast food lunches are replaced by a variety of fresh vegetables – snacks of chocolate and colas are replaced by fresh fruit and nuts.

Perhaps the reason you don’t hear as much about the Mediterranean diet as you might other weight loss plans is that there is no special pill to buy, no special formula to drink and no 12-step meal plan to purchase.

The Mediterranean diet works because common sense prevails in eating choices and a rise in HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) is an indicator they are doing something right. The health benefits of olive oil cannot be overstated and traditional Greek cooking utilizes garden fresh produce and extra virgin olive oil. In tandem, this common sense approach continues to see a lower incidence of heart disease and colon cancer along with an increase in life expectancy and a decrease in overall weight.

Weight: The Thanksgiving Hangover

We all need brief periods of self-indulgence – it’s part of the human condition. Expect a setback on your weight loss goals and let that knowledge mitigate your disappointment. Then continue on your diet with the assurance that a special occasion blip doesn’t define your future. Enjoy the memories of a family gathering while carefully planning your next week’s intake.

diet,weightloss,health,attitudes,psychological reframing

The feasting is over. The turkey has disappeared: roasted and hot, microwaved leftovers, then cold sandwiches and eventually croquettes or thrown into soup.

You climb on the scale with trepidation and breathe a long sigh of relief when the dreaded poundage fails to appear. Before you relax and think you got away with it, remember that your sneaky little body is playing its usual tricks. Two or three days of Spartan eating will make you feel virtuous again -until you step on the scale and find you’ve gained 5 pounds. “Fraud” you shriek. “I’ve been so good!”

Remember the holiday feast? It has finally caught up with you as you knew, deep down, that it would.

What to do?

We all need brief periods of self-indulgence – it’s part of the human condition. Expect a setback on your weight loss goals and let that knowledge mitigate your disappointment. Then continue on your diet with the assurance that a special occasion blip doesn’t define your future. Enjoy the memories of a family gathering while carefully planning your next week’s intake.

Appreciate what you have accomplished so far and avoid loading yourself down with guilt and self-reproach.

Get back on your program as quickly as possible because (sorry to bring this up now) Christmas is coming and the goose is getting fat.

Reprogramming the Overweight Mind: 7 Steps to Taking Control of Your Subconscious has become the definitive book for behavior change. It is the ultimate self help book because all of the documents necessary to perform a clinical study are contained within an included Audio/Data CD. When psychologists, physicians, or psychiatrists ask me to prove my book is the definitive document for behavior change, I am happy to accommodate.

Since its introduction into psychiatric care in 1990 Burris MIND/FITNESS has established itself as the only clinically proven process for behavior change and has been endorsed by all psychologists, physicians, and psychiatrists who have evaluated it.

7 Steps to Taking Full Control of all Behaviors, not just Weight Loss, Diet, Health, Fitness, & Eating Disorders

Step 1 – The Emotional Checklist
Burris MIND/FITNESS is based on the reality that all behavior is emotionally driven. The Emotional Checklist establishes a baseline by which you can measure your results from day to day, week to week, month to month or year to year.

Step 2 – Subconscious Perspective & Empowering Questions
On the first page of the program process you will literally put your subconscious on paper and discover what brings about a behavior at the deepest level of the subconscious. It is imperative that you know what the subconscious is doing because the subconscious mind runs approximately four times faster than the conscious mind and right now you have virtually no idea what the subconscious is doing. All responses from the Subconscious Perspective are turned into Empowering Questions.

Step 3 – Subconscious Self-Image
If you set a goal that has to do with a change of your physical image without restructuring the image in your subconscious, your chances of success are at best remote. It is like wearing clothes that do not fit, you are never comfortable. This discomfort will lead you back to where you began. There will never be a more important image you have in your subconscious mind or a more important image that you will need to change than the image you have of yourself right now.

Step 4 – The Stop & Replace System
This is the most powerful part of the program. The Stop and Replace System will allow you to make an assault on any subconscious programming you wish to change and make dramatic changes in your emotional state and behavior. All the elements from the first three pages of the program are used on this page to help you Recognize, Access and Change subconscious programming that simply does not work.

Step 5 – The Heart of MIND/FITNESS
The Heart of MIND/FITNESS consists of your Love, Health, Wealth, and Self Image. Once you understand how to take control of your emotional state and behavior, it is necessary that you use these skills on a daily basis. The way you process information can be dramatically changed in a short period of time, simply by consistently implementing The Heart of MIND/FITNESS.

Step 6 – Food & Fitness Planner
Getting consistent control of your emotional state includes consistent control of what you eat, drink, and the type and amount of exercise you get. It is important to plan your food and fitness schedule because the process of an unconscious assault on the body with food, alcohol, or drugs can start a day or even days before you indulge in a behavior that will throw you completely off course and out of control. Planning your food and fitness schedule is a big part of reprogramming these behaviors, and you need to plan them until it becomes automatic.

Step 7 – The Trance-Formation
The most powerful guided meditation you will ever experience is on an Audio/Data CD that is included with the book. The dialogue used during the meditation is specific to you based on the first six steps of the program. What you say to yourself is more important than anything anyone will ever say to you or about you. Once you have learned the dialogue of the induction, you can use this to put yourself in a relaxed state that will allow you greater control over all your subconscious processes.

Regardless of weather your health goal is a change in diet for weight loss, an increase in your fitness program or to take control of an eating disorder such as anorexia or bulimia. In the end the question you need to ask yourself is…Am I completely happy with the mind running itself or do I need to take control of it? If your answer is I need to take control of it, then Burris MIND/FITNESS is the answer.

Read or download and post the first two chapters of the book on your web site, listen to the first track of the Audio/Data CD or become a Certified Burris MIND/FITNESS Life Coach by going to http://KellyBurris.com. Kelly Burris has spent the last 20 years in the development of Burris MIND/FITNESS and is the author of the new self help book Reprogramming the Overweight Mind: 7 Steps to Taking Control of Your Subconscious.

Weight Loss

had been overweight my entire life. I have tried to changed my live as well and now I’m successful. What I have been done ? It’s began 3 years ago. I have changed my thinking on my life. I had been overweight my entire life. I have tried to changed my live as well and now I’m successful. What I have been done ? It’s began 3 years ago. I have changed my thinking on my life. I stopped to use my favorite sentence that tomorrow I’ll do something about my weight and I became aware that this is my last chance to change my visage.

Here is why we gain weight and my suggestion to reverse it

When we are nervous, we eat. Don’t tense. When we celebrate something with friends, we eat. Let’s celebrate in temperance. When we watch TV, what do we do ? We eat and eat. Hard nut to crack ? Once we sad, we eat When we see to smoke somebody, we take something to eat We need to ask ourselves some questions that may help solve a problem:

I thought about loss weight but then I didn’t. Why does this happen? ? Mostly it’s because you really do want to eat the sweet. Do I really need this cookie/cake/ice cream right now or am I pacifying something that is not going right for me, right now. What in my life would I like to change, right now? Why do I want to change it? What will these changes bring about, either now or in the near future It’s always easier to put weight loss off for one more day.

People who have successfully achieved their ideal weight and better health without dieting report the following success strategies :

They made a commitment to changing habits long-term vs. just losing weight They became educated about sound nutrition principles They learned to cope with emotions and stress without food They consciously eat when their hungry and stop when their full They shift the focus from “looking good?to honoring their health and well-being They learn to adjust portions or food intake to match activity level They don’t sabotage themselves, when they blow it They seek ongoing support as needed to stay motivated For me when I’m busy and trying to get a lot of work done and something stumps me or requires extra thought, my tendency is to want to take a break and get something to chew on. That might be true for you too. I haven’t worked directly on the anxious feelings themselves, just the end result of wanting to eat something. Every time I’ve tried it, I’ve ended up not wanting what I was going to eat in the first place so personally I’d say it is very effective.

Reprogramming the Overweight Mind 7 Steps to Taking Control of the Subconscious does not follow the usual weight loss and diet book formula. There is not even a diet in the book. Instead the primary focus is on the behavior of eating and over 20 years have been spent perfecting the clinically proven program contained within the book. Every other book on weight loss has taken the position of attacking the body to try and change the mind.

The health of your body is dependent on your mental health and taking control of the subconscious is the key to lasting permanent change of any behavior. The subconscious mind is like a car without an off switch and an unknown driver. If you decide not to drive because you do not know how, it is going to drive itself. To give you an idea of the power of the subconscious, you can speak at a rate of about two to three hundred words per minute. Your subconscious runs at a rate of about one thousand to twelve hundred words per minute which is about four times faster than you can speak. This is why you can talk on the phone and perform other tasks like typing on the computer or driving a car because the subconscious is already programmed to do the other tasks.

You can look at the conscious mind and the subconscious mind like a tug of war with a vat of mud in the middle for whom ever loses. The conscious mind is one person on one side against the subconscious, which are four people on the other side. If the conscious mind decides to move in a different direction like changing your diet, losing weight, increasing your fitness program or any other change in your behavior, it is usually a losing proposition because you are simply out numbered with information. The only way you can insure permanent behavior change is take control of the subconscious.

The Audio/Data CD included with the book is what makes this book the Best Weight Loss Program and Ultimate Self Help Book for the New Year? The audio portion of the CD is a guided meditation that is based on information collected in the first six steps of the program as opposed to using generic information. The Data portion of the CD includes all the documents necessary to perform a study that measures the dramatic improvement of the emotional state of the person using the program. The program process is based on the reality that all behavior is emotionally driven so if you understand how an emotional state comes about you can intervene and change the behavior. This is the foundation of the book and why it works for the full spectrum of behavior, not just weight loss, fitness motivation and eating disorders. All of this would not have much meaning if the book did not answer the most fundamental question first. What determines human (your) behavior? I have worked with people who have been in therapy for 20 years and can not answer this question. They can not answer the question because the therapist they are working with can not answer it. How can you help someone change a behavior if you do not know what brings a behavior about to begin with?

Many people have reported that just the first two chapters of the book have made a significant difference in their lives. Because of this response Kelly has released the first two chapters for distribution free of charge.

The Pros and Cons of Lap Band Surgery

health and information, lap band, surgery, medical information

In the quest to find the ultimate weight loss solution, medical researchers have come up with a variety of procedures and diets. One of them is lap band surgery. This is a simple procedure wherein a lap band (short for laparoscopic gastric band) is placed in the upper portion of the stomach. This procedure creates a small pouch, which limits the amount of food that the person takes in. The lap band itself is made of silicon and can be inflated and deflated within the person’s body.

Contrary to some people’s beliefs, just because someone has had a lap band surgery doesn’t mean that that person can continue his old eating habits immediately. In fact, there is a specific diet that one has to follow immediately after lap band surgery. This can be considered as a disadvantage by some people (due to inconvenience) while others may not see it in the same way.

The lap band diet has three phases ?the liquid diet phase, the puree phase, and then the regular diet phase. The first phase lasts around 2 weeks after the surgery. As the name implies, the patient is only allowed clear liquids. This includes broth, clear soup, and fruit juices. The puree phase follows and lasts for another 2 weeks. In this phase, the patient can now eat high protein food, which has to be chopped into tiny pieces. The last phase ensues around the 5th or 6th week, wherein the patient can slowly add fruits, vegetables, carbohydrates, low fat proteins and the like. Meat, fibers, and bread are still not allowed however.

One big advantage of lap band surgery is the procedure itself. It is relatively simple and the patient need not be admitted to the hospital for it to be carried out. The patient can even resume normal activity within several days of the operation ?except for eating, that is.

Another advantage of lap band surgery is the pain associated with it ?it is minimal. This is especially significant if you compare the effects of gastric bypass and other similar surgical procedures. More so, with gastric bypass, the patient has a higher risk of infection. This is due to the fact that when the stomach becomes full, its contents do not tend to leak to other parts of the body as with gastric bypass. In addition to this, the placement of a lap band does not involve the risk of experiencing the dumping syndrome. This is wherein the patient develops intolerance for carbohydrates and sugar. The dumping syndrome is associated with gastric bypass.

Of course, lap band surgery can have its disadvantages as well. For one, people with certain conditions such as ulcers and GERD cannot have a lap band placed. People outside the age range of 18 and 55 are not recommended for lap band surgery either, although there have been exceptions to this. Again, the strict diet restrictions may prove to be cumbersome for some people.

If you are considering lap band surgery, you should consult with your medical practitioner first. The Obesity Goodbye Center is an institution that specializes in lap band surgery. They have 10 years of experience behind them to provide their patients with the best care possible. For more information, visit them at http://www.lapband4me.com/.

The Best Way To Lose Weight

By , June 15, 2015 11:15 pm

552

The best way to lose weight is really a combination of using differant methods, lets learn more.

best way to lose weight, lose weight fast, weight loss, lose weight

Copyright 2006 Raymond Burton

Lets start off by making sure that when you say “What is the best way to lose weight??That what you really mean is to lose that weight safely and to keep it off for life. If that is what you mean, then lets cut through some common misconceptions and show you the best way to lose weight without the fluff and confusion.

There is no single best way to achieve weight loss; it is always a combined effort using a couple different systems of the body. This means that in order to lose your weight fast but to do it safely we have to eat right, do some aerobic exercise as well as resistance training. From years of personal training I can tell you with certainty that if one of these three components is missing, your weight loss will be slow to non-existent.

Now I have seen people lose weight fast with only extreme dieting, however this weight comes back quickly and usually with a few extra pounds to make for a comfortable stay. Not only is this not the best way or even the fastest way for weight loss but also it is very unsafe. The systems of the body do like to lose weight in this fashion and will rebel.

So how does one go about losing weight as quick as possible using the mentioned methods? Lets talk about eating right for weight loss first. Right eating includes 4-6 small meals a day. Each of these meals should contain some of all the macronutrients. This means fat, carbohydrates as well as protein. Divide these meals evenly through the day, say every three to four hours.

Another of the best things you can do to lose weight quickly is incorporate aerobic exercise into your schedule. This means any activity that gets you breathing harder than normal and for a duration of 30 minutes to an hour. You should do this at least 4 times a week along with the next component of our “best way to lose weight?system.

Now remember, this is a system, not a best way, lose weight fast gimmick. So along with your aerobic exercise like walking or jogging you are going to do some resistance training. This does not have to be complicated. A weight loss workout program only has to put a little more stress than usual on your muscles to be effective. This could be as simple as this.

Bodyweight Squats Pushups on your knees Sit-ups or crunches Calf Raises on some stairs

Do all of these in a row until you cant do another one and then repeat the whole weight loss circuit two more times. This should be done every time you do your cardio for the first couple of weeks to get the ball rolling and to get rid of the stomach rolls?

You can see that in fact, the best way to lose weight and keep it off for life, is more like a way of living. It really isn’t that big of a deal though. The ideas presented above will hardly impede your regular schedule. Sure, you may miss one hour long TV show, but the results and way you feel will more than make up for a missed episode of “So You Think You Can Dance?

Tips to Succeed With Your Healthy New Year’s Resolution

Exercising more. Eating nutritious foods. Stopping a smoking habit. With health-conscious actions topping our New Year’s resolutions every year, why do we always seem to not meet our goals, going back to old habits?

Some experts believe the failure to succeed with a resolution may be because we don’t have a game plan. But the following tips will help start the new year with a strategy to maintain a healthy goal.

* Be committed, yet realistic. Dedication is an important driving force in keeping you on track of your resolution. However, unrealistic goals, such as being able to run a marathon after two weeks of training, can easily burst your spirit. Make sure your resolution is reasonable.

* Make it easy. Though maintaining your resolution can be hard, there might be a tool that makes it easier to accomplish. For example, you can fulfill a resolution to practice good oral care with the new HydraBrush Express, an electric toothbrush that takes 40 seconds or less to use.

Developed by Oralbotic Research Inc., the HydraBrush Express cleans all six surfaces of your teeth simultaneously. The toothbrush uses automatic bristle positioning, massages the gums and has brush heads that move at 810 strokes per minute. To use it, you bite into the brushes and guide the handle toward the back of your mouth. With daily use, you can enjoy whiter teeth, healthier gums and a decrease in plaque.

Health matters a lot as it decides our wealth, prosperity in life and a good livelihood. Without a good health man can not become successful in achieving their goals and lead a fully contented life. Phentermine should be taken 30-60 minutes before breakfast and should not be taken late in the day as it may cause sleeplessness. For an effective result, it should be taken with healthy diet in conjunction with regular exercise plan.

With growing networking facilities, people can now buy phentermine online as more and more pharmaceutical business are flourishing online.
